How is Your BEN?
|
In The
American Dream, young Jarrod is mentored by the charming, erudite
Benjamin Franklin. Franklin
passes along many lessons, some of which he overtly instructs Jarrod
while others are more coy. One of those underlying messages is the
ability to act now, to be in the present, to spring into action. He
teaches him about
|

|
his BEN. Franklin
does this by probing Jarrod’s sense of self, his surroundings, and what he
is learning. Though questions and his inquisitive nature, Franklin allows Jarrod to draw his own
conclusions and learn and grow in the process.
To check in with your BEN, begin to ponder:
§
Be Engaged Now
Look at those
around you. What can you learn from them? What are they teaching you? Look
at the opportunity that currently exists in your life. Are you stepping up
those challenges? Are you ignoring what’s knocking at your door?
§
Boldly Embark
Now.
Great dreams become real when you take action. What steps have you taken
today to make your vision become a reality? How, each day, are you creating
an environment that sustains that vision?
§
Begin Embracing
the New.
Jarrod reaches back into his past to create a bold, new future. When he
first awakens to the past, he’s unsure and a bit apprehensive, but soon he
embraces his new surroundings. To create your vision, how are you prepared
to embrace the changes? Have you planned how you will communicate them, how
objectives will be met, and how achievements will be measured? Are you
prepared to embrace the new?

of Leadership, contact us
